The August Break is a community project that has no rules. Participants are asked to simply take a photograph each day during the month of August. Of course, I’m breaking the only rule by finding a vintage image to go with today’s theme of “Air” instead of taking a photograph.
This photograph is of Grand Central Station, New York City, in 1957 taken by the photographer Brassai. I love this image because the light streaming through the windows illuminates the dust enabling us to see the air in the station. The streams of “air” act as spotlights for the players going about their lives.
It makes me yearn for the days when traveling was viewed as a glamorous adventure rather than an exhausting ordeal.
