The other day I came home from work to find flannel curtains hanging in the kitchen window.
As The Mister said, they make the kitchen seem quite cozy. He had found about a yard of flannel, cut it up the middle and made a channel for the rod by stapling it across the top.
I thought he was quite clever and told him so. We agreed that they are perfect for “right now” until we get a chance to decorate the kitchen in the near future.
But then he asked me if it was okay that he had used that flannel and I made a big mistake. I told him it was a good use of the leftover flannel from the pajamas I made for my mother.
He joked with me last night that now all he sees is my mother hanging in the window…

This brought to mind the time I invaded my mother’s stash and she was very angry. I never touched her fabric without permission again. When we cleaned out her house, we carried out garbage sack after garbage sack of fabric. He’s teasing you a bit, but I think it’s wonderful that the mister took the initiative to create warmth and privacy in your new home.
I agree, Kathy. I am soooooo thankful for how hard he’s been working to make our cottage “homey.” Sure there are still boxes left to be unpacked and things to do but I’m surprised how quickly it feels like home. And almost all of it is his doing.
That was so sweet. My husband in the past would have used duct tape but since gorilla tape has surfaced he thinks that is the cure all. . .
I think the Mister did an awesome job! Flannel curtains are indeed homey and cute to boot! The staple job did make me chuckle! Glad you are settling into your new cottage home. Before I forget – welcome to my neck of the woods.
