Springtime Memories (Found In My Camera)
By Dr. Julie-Ann, on August 11th, 2011
I took these photos on April 26, 2011 when people in other parts of the country were suffering through yet another snowstorm. The flowers and hills have long since dried up in the desert heat–and it is my turn to be envious of people living in other parts of the country–but this is one of the reasons why I live where I do:

View from my front yard

California poppies seen from my front yard

Flower The Mister planted. I'm not sure what kind it is.

Our perennials that serve as the border along the front of the house.

More of the perennial that borders the house.

And some more. During the summer, I miss the bursts of color but I'm grateful for the bounty of color the other nine months of the year.
The unidentified flower is a marigold.
Ah! That’s it! Thank you! I knew someone would know and help me identify it!
I don’t know anything about flower species or anything, but I know that these are all pretty! Where do you live? I cant imagine a front door view like that, gorgeous!

I live about 3 miles from downtown Los Angeles…in the heart of the city. But we somehow managed to get a place with a magnificent view!
The marigold is an annual, but your perennials are nasturtiums. You could add — both leaves and flowers, I understand — to your salads provided you are not using pesticides on them. Lots of info can be found online.
Yes, you live in a lovely spot.
