Remember When Free Speech Meant….

Freedom of Speech by Norman Rockwell

Freedom of Speech by Norman Rockwell

…All voices could be heard and neighbors engaged in dialogue with each other until a resolution was reached (if not a consensus) that was for the greatest good of the community?

We may be on opposite sides of the political debate.  I don’t know.  But I do know that I am weary of the polarization, name calling, fear mongering, and the demonizing that is often instigated by the media, lobbyists, special interest groups, and by those in office.  I’ve really become aware of how strong the manipulation is since unplugging my television.

I say we do something really radical: Let’s actually talk to each other.  As I recall, that’s what people did in my grandmother’s day.  And that is one of the things we fought for during World War II: The Freedom of Speech.

Coffee, anyone?
