Thursday Theatrics: Cold Cream for that Radioactive Dirt

My Honey grew up in Livermore, California, site of a national nuclear laboratory because his father was an engineer that worked there.  Those were the good old days before Silicon Valley went out of control and hords of people moved into Livermore for the “cheaper” housing.  But I digress (yes, I’m bitter…the town I used to know doesn’t exist anymore and is filled with yuppies clutching overpriced coffee in paper cups).  I’ve watched home movies of “family days” at the lab where they had barbecues and the kids all swam in the lab swimming pool.

But, there have been times that we’ve wondered if the lab was really as safe as they claimed it was.  I don’t want to get into politics, but My Honey and I have debated about which was worse: him growing up in a nuclear lab town or me growing up in Los Angeles where we could count days with blue skies on our hand because of all of the smog.  I think I got the worse deal.  I struggle with respiratory problems while he seems to be fairly healthy for a man his age who used to have a pound of butter and a pound of cheese a week habit (until his cholesterol tests came back and then he went cold turkey….he is an amazing man.  Well, he says he is an average man doing amazing things).

Given my post from yesterday about my new love affair with cold cream, I had to click on the You Tube link about the “Shocking 1950′s Commercial” when I saw it on 50′s Gal’s blog on my first visit.  It will shock you, too!
