Ponds Cold Cream Ad

Somewhere (I can’t remember where) someone mentioned a new blog about a woman who is living the year as a 1950′s woman.  If you haven’t discovered “50′s Times” yet, I encourage you to take a look.  I am totally hooked!  (and a special “Hi” to some of those readers who have taken a peek over here, too!)

Well, reading 50′s Gal’s adventures, I thought to myself, if I were really an old-fashioned girl living pre-1960′s (because I WAS living in the 1960′s!), what would I be using to wash my face?  You see, I ran out of my Cetaphil daily cleanser and was getting ready to buy a new bottle when I suddenly channeled 50′s Gal.  So, I did a quick Google search for cleansers.

Duh!  Cold cream! And, apparently Ponds still makes their classic cold cream because I picked up a jar of it at my local Target.  I’ll admit that I had to search for it, but I finally found it.

Can I just admit that I am in love with Ponds Classic Cold Cream? I have been using it for about a week and my skin feels sooooooooo soft.  I put some on my face at night, just like in the old movies, right before I take my shower.  While I’m in the shower, I use the face cloth to wash off my makeup (and it gets ALL of it off, I don’t have to use the special mascara remover anymore to get rid of the raccoon eyes) and it leaves my skin feeling great.  I was nervous about my skin feeling greasy because the main ingredient is mineral oil but using the warm damp facecloth seems to solve that issue.  As a side note, when I just used a tissue, it did leave a greasy-feeling residue so I switched back to the facecloth technique.

And the best part?  I don’t have to go out and get a $40 jar of night-time moisturizer, either (I was out of that, too), from the department store.  And I like the results better than that fancy-schmancy department store moisturizer, too!

You know, sometimes we get all caught up in thinking that we have to get the newest thing when the truth of the matter is that we can run with the classic (and save a ton of money, too)!
